COVID-19 response to support NHS and other key workers
Augment Bionics is a medical devices start-up founded at the University of Edinburgh in 2019. During the COVID-19 pandemic, we have redirected their business to address the PPE shortage in the UK.
COVID-19 response – UK & Beyond
During the pandemic, Augment Bionics has been producing face shields to donate to the NHS free of charge. Through donations Augment Bionics distributed 40,000 face shields to nearly 60 healthcare facilities around the UK, and feedback from medical personnel has been excellent.
Due to a recent decrease in demand from the NHS, Augment Bionics is using its expertise to assist other countries in need. Augment Bionics have distributed face shields to hospitals in South Africa, Uganda, Somaliland, Kenya and Tanzania!
To meet this international demand, Augment Bionics are offering CE marked face visors for sale to private healthcare and service-based businesses in the UK, to raise money for international expansion.
All profits from these sales will go towards the Augment Bionics operations in these countries.
For every Work From Home Booni Box sold – we purchase 1 CE face shield for a key worker
What Key workers say
“Used your face shield today – barely felt it being there after an hour of use, length wasn’t an issue
and they’re really clear.”
“I just got off work today and I wanted to thank you again for the fantastic visors. Both Type A and Type B are fantastic, and everyone on the ICU loved them. Personally, I only tried Type A, and it was excellent because there was no foam stopping the vapour from escaping, so the visors wouldn’t fog up. Also, it was super lightweight and the adjustability of it really made it easier for everyone. I shared out the visors between GICU, CICU, recovery, and theatres … overall everyone was very impressed – it far surpassed the quality of the previous visors that we were using.”
“The staff prefer the ones that you make.”
“Impressed by the quality of them.”
